Google Gemini AI Brand Visibility Tracking and AI Search Monitoring (2026)

Gemini brand visibility is its own column in 2026. It is not Overviews and it is not ChatGPT. We monitor it in Promptwatch and keep GSC for Google Search.

Google Gemini AI brand visibility tracking is the brief that mixes three Google-adjacent surfaces into one slide. Gemini the assistant, AI Overviews, and classic Search are not the same log. In 2026 we monitor Gemini answers on a frozen prompt list. We measure Overviews in Search Console. We do not report a Gemini mention as an Overview impression. The three surfaces share the word Google and not much else, and a deck that averages them produces a number that no single surface actually supports.

The Gemini column we run is Promptwatch. Paid plans include Gemini daily from the UI, next to ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Overviews. Citation analytics say whether Gemini used your page or someone else's. Explore is free, ChatGPT only, 10 prompts. It will not close a Gemini SOW. The free plan answers a different question, whether ChatGPT mentions the brand at all, and the Gemini question starts on a paid plan.

How we separate Gemini from Overviews

AI features and your website and the optimization guide are Search. June 2026 generative reports are impressions in Overviews, AI Mode, and generative Discover. They list pages, countries, devices, and dates. They do not list Gemini chat prompts. The two sources are the two halves of the Google question, and they do not overlap on the prompt.

When a director says "Google AI," we ask which surface. If they mean Overviews, we open GSC and our docs reading. If they mean "what does Gemini say when a buyer asks for a vendor," that is Promptwatch. The question is the cheapest step in the whole workflow, and it is the step that prevents the most wasted reporting.

Gemini will not copy ChatGPT. We keep two columns. Query fan-outs on the Gemini row often name a different supporting URL than the ChatGPT row. That is a different ticket. A Gemini citation and a ChatGPT citation of the same prompt are two different events, and treating them as one hides the surface that actually moved.

Other Gemini-shaped SKUs we inherit

Otterly starts at $29. Gemini is an add-on. The log can lag seven days. We will not run a launch-week Gemini review on that cadence. A seven-day lag is fine for a monthly trend read, and it is the wrong instrument for a launch week, because the answer you are reacting to may already have been replaced.

Peec at $95 covers three models. Gemini can be one of them. Extra models are $35 to $165. Claude is Enterprise. Fine if they already standardized. We still want Agent Analytics when a Gemini miss might be a blocked fetch. The blocked-fetch question is the question that turns a miss into a diagnosis, and a mention tracker without crawler logs cannot answer it.

Profound Starter is $99 annual, ChatGPT only. Gemini is not on that card. Growth is $399 annual. Enterprise is about $2,000 to $5,000+/mo. The public Profound cards are a sample of the Enterprise product, and Gemini sits behind the custom-priced tier.

Ahrefs Brand Radar ($199/mo plus an Ahrefs plan) and Semrush AI Toolkit ($99/mo per domain, modeled prompts) stay on the invoice. We keep them. We do not read them as yesterday's Gemini answer. They are Google-side research with an AI module, and they answer a different question than the daily Gemini log.

How we run Gemini monitoring

Same sales prompts as ChatGPT. Country-level targeting starts on Essential. State and city targeting start on Professional for brand plans and are also included on the agency plans. Personas keep a consumer prompt apart from a B2B shortlist. Topics and tags handle the weekly filter. The same prompts across engines are what make the two columns comparable, and a different prompt per engine is a different question that cannot be compared.

Agent Analytics is the crawl check on Professional and the agency plans. Visitor analytics through a script or GTM start on Essential and attach a session if Gemini sent one. Most answers send none. We still want the mention. The mention is the baseline, and the visit is the upside, and a program that only counts visits misses the mentions that did not click.

Essential is $95/mo with no listed crawler-log allowance. Professional is $245/mo with 25 million crawler logs plus state and city targeting. Kick-off is $199/mo with crawler logs, state and city targeting, unlimited projects, and 10 seats. Business is $579/mo with 100 million logs. The plan ladder is the ladder from mention to diagnosis, and the crawler logs are the rung that separates the two.

Page work after a Gemini miss is still extractable passages and a page the bot can fetch. How to get cited by ChatGPT is the same edit habit. We do not invent a Gemini-only writing system. The edit habit is shared across engines because the underlying object, a page a bot can read and choose to cite, is shared across engines.

FAQ

Is Gemini visibility the same as AI Overviews?

No. Different surface, different measurement. Gemini is the assistant answer to a prompt. Overviews is the generative surface in Google Search. The two can move together and often do not, and the gap is the signal.

Does Explore include Gemini?

No. Paid Promptwatch does. Explore is ChatGPT only, 10 prompts, free, and it answers the question of whether ChatGPT mentions the brand, not the Gemini question.

Should we block Google-Extended to "focus" Gemini?

Google-Extended is not a clean Gemini or Overview switch. Read Search Central before anyone touches robots.txt. A robots.txt change to focus Gemini is a change that affects training and crawling in ways that are not a clean lever, and the documentation is the place to read before the edit.

What to do this week

  1. Write 15 buyer prompts. Run them in Gemini once by hand.
  2. Open GSC generative reports and label that tab Overviews, not Gemini.
  3. Load the prompts into Promptwatch Essential ($95) with Gemini on.
  4. Keep Ahrefs and Semrush. Do not pause them.
  5. Email hello@1001seomedia.com if you want both scoreboards run without mixing the Google surfaces.
